'Australian Democracy in Theory and Practice 5e' explores the dimensions of Australian democracy in terms of policy and practice past and present. Maddox argues the case for democracy as the best system devised for the political autonomy and the liberation of humankind. He introduces students to the history of the theoretical development of democratic ideas around the world, while examining the specific application of democratic principles to the Australian context. This fifth edition has been substantially updated and revised in response to reviewer comments and suggestions. While the historical and theoretical strengths of the text remain, particular efforts have been made to streamline this content and make it as accessible as possible.
