Abstract: This chapter provides an overview of health care funding programs in Australia. Following an examination of the factors impacting on the ability of health-care service providers to deliver health services, issues of health system performance are discussed. This leads to an analysis of major sources of funding for acute and primary care services, aged care services, and finally community and disability services.
