Title: | Planning and scaffolding for learning in experiential placements in Australian pharmacy schools | Contributor(s): | Stupans, Ieva (author); Owen, Susanne (author) | Publication Date: | 2009 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/8971 | Abstract: | Learning within work-integrated and clinical placements is increasingly required for professional accreditation approval of allied health and other university programs, providing a context for students in developing not only the knowledge but also the practical skills and personal attributes of their professions. An Australian Learning and Teaching Council (previously the Carrick Institute) funded 2007 research study was conducted regarding pharmacy experiential placements with the purpose of mapping university programs, analysing handbooks and also consulting with about 250 stakeholders from a range of backgrounds in relation to issues and quality indicators. This paper presents compiled views from a range of stakeholders with reference to scaffolding for learning at the pre-placement, during placement and post-placement phases of experiential placements. It presents a model which may facilitate comprehensive planning and scaffolding for experiential placements by both university academics and preceptors. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | Asia-Pacific Journal of Cooperative Education, 10(1), p. 29-37 | Publisher: | New Zealand Association for Cooperative Education (NZACE) | Place of Publication: | New Zealand | ISSN: | 1175-2882 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 119999 Medical and Health Sciences not elsewhere classified | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 929999 Health not elsewhere classified | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | C1 Refereed Article in a Scholarly Journal | Publisher/associated links: | http://www.apjce.org/files/APJCE_10_1_29_37.pdf |
