Title: Point of care INR testing in cardiac wards

Abstract: A clinical trial establish the accuracy of use of Point of Care (POC) International Normalised Ratio (INR) testing using CoagChek® XS for inpatients receiving warfarin therapy was recently conducted at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle (NSW). The technology for point of care testing for INR is a recent innovation and very few studies have been conducted that report its efficacy and impact on patient care in acute hospital settings, in particular, on patients who are receiving anticoagulant therapy.
