Abstract: Historically, an autonomous member of the British Commonwealth of Nations as identified in s 1 of the 'Statute of Westminster 1931' (Imp); the Dominion of Canada, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State and Newfoundland. See the 'Statute of Westminster Adoption Act 1942' (Cth) and 'Kirmani v Captain Cook Cruises Pty Ltd (No. 1)' (1985) 159 CLR 351 regarding the scope of the 'law of the Dominion'.
