Title: | Calving ease | Contributor(s): | McClintock, Sara (author) | Publication Date: | 2004 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/5949 | Abstract: | Calving ease is an issue of concern to most dairy farmers. Over the past four years Sara McClintock has investigated the causes and cost of calving difficulties in our dairy herds. She has intensively studied the data available and has met with farming groups around the country. The recommendations of her research are being considered by the Australian Dairy Herd Improvement Scheme and will lead to improved collection of calving ease data, an improved Calving Ease ABV and a new daughter Calving Ease ABV. In this article Sara discusses the cost of calving and what influences calving ease or difficulty. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | Genetics Australia (2), p. 24-24 | Publisher: | Genetics Australia | Place of Publication: | Australia | ISSN: | 1324-9304 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 070201 Animal Breeding | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 830302 Dairy Cattle | HERDC Category Description: | C3 Non-Refereed Article in a Professional Journal | Publisher/associated links: | http://www.genaust.com.au/PDF/calvingease.pdf http://www.genaust.com.au/Technologies.aspx |
