Abstract |

Using a 'Funds of Knowledge' approach, this session will focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander gifted students. Notably, participants will be introduced to some of the varied ways that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples understand giftedness. They will also consider the practices and process that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples use to develop gifts into talents. From this base, participants will explore identification protocols and provision options that draw on the gifted Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student's Funds of Knowledge. Participants will also be asked to reflect on the role of the school in supporting the development of 'cultural gifts' for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
