dc.description.abstract
This project had 3 key stages:

Term 2 and 3, 2022 Year 9 (Champions and Coaches) and Year 10 (Supercoaches and Future Pathways) program in-school at Armidale Secondary College with Creating Chances: These weekly in-school programs focused on leadership and teamwork skills, coaching and event coordination. They also had a key focus on transferable skills such as communication, collaboration with others and organisation. This was in order to prepare students for the World Traditional Games event at the culmination of LEAAP, which they were responsible for planning, setting up, coaching, event managing and catering. These skills prepare students for life and community interactions beyond the scope of the program. 2 Year 9 classes and 1 Year 10 class from Armidale Secondary College participated in this component as the main beneficiaries (n=65 young people).

3 day residential program at Lake Keepit (condensed Gamechanger program): From the aforementioned cohort of students, 17 self-nominated attendance at a 3-day/2day night camp at Lake Keepit during the winter school holidays (July 7th-9th). This was a condensed Creating Chances Gamechangers program whereby students developed an EPIC (Explore, Plan, Ideate and Protoype, Create) campaign around issues they believed were most important to youth in their community. Furthermore, they participated in other activities including: a range of initiative, teambuilding and problem-solving activities; Camp fire and Aboriginal story telling by Gomeroi Dance Company; Dave Widders consulting 'Leading self and others workshop that explored valuing differences and racism; and World Traditional Games game design and rehearsal for their end of Term 3 event.

en
