Abstract:

In this report, the findings of pilot research on Multicultural Police Liaison Officer (MCLO) programs in New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland (QLD) are put forward.

The objectives of the research were to:

  • Examine the roles of MCLOs in NSW and Queensland;
  • Uncover the interactions between MCLOs, community members and sworn officers;
  • Note the challenges that MCLOs experience in their roles; and
  • Identify how MCLO roles can be improved.

The research was undertaken independently of the QPS, NSWPF and participating community organisations.
