Abstract |

In the midst of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, I have found myself betwixt and between Australia and
the United States of America, having been temporarily marooned in the States due, in part to my mother's
passing. This time of self-reflection over the last few months has allowed me to consider what our "new
normal" should be post COVID-19.

As a comparative educator, who researches educational systems worldwide, I contend that the education sector must reevaluate its immediate priorities as a condition for its own survival.
