This loss was particularly acutely felt in the South African academic economics community. Professor Spindler was a frequent visitor to South Africa, spent considerable periods as a visiting scholar at the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch and had a wide circle of friends among South African economists. He will be sadly missed both as a valued friend and a fine scholar. Zane Spindler was born in New London, Wisconsin in the United States. He first graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.Sc (cum laude) and then attended Michigan State University, where he graduated successively with an MA and a PhD in economics.||Publication Type:||Journal Article||Source of Publication:||South African Journal of Economics, 77(1), p. 203-204||Publisher:||Economic Society of South Africa||Place of Publication:||Johannesburg, South Africa||ISSN:||0038-2280||Field of Research (FOR):||140213 Public Economics- Public Choice||Socio-Economic Objective (SEO):||910299 Microeconomics not elsewhere classified||HERDC Category Description:||C4 Letter of Note||Statistics to Oct 2018:||Visitors: 163|
