Title: | Morlet Wavelet Based Human Head and Face Boundary Extraction | Contributor(s): | Zhang, Liming (author); Lenders, Patrick Madeleine (author) | Publication Date: | 2002 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/4581 | Abstract: | This paper presents a novel approach to extract human head boundary in plain background image using 2D Morlet continuous wavelet transform. Continuous wavelet transform and discrete wavelet transform have their specific properties so that their specific field of applications. In this paper we utilize the rich edge information provided by the continuous wavelet transform in various directions to extract the head boundary, and then fuse those information to get the final result. An algorithm for face boundary extraction is also described in this paper. Effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by our tests with Yale Face Database. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | ACCV 2002: 5th Asian Conference on Computer Vision, Melbourne, Australia, 22 - 25th January, 2002 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the 5th Asian Conference on Computer Vision: ACCV 2002, p. 801-806 | Publisher: | Asian Federation of Computer Vision Societies | Place of Publication: | Tokyo, Japan | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 080106 Image Processing | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 861699 Computer Hardware and Electronic Equipment not elsewhere classified | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | E1 Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | http://www.aprs.org.au/accv2002/accv2002_proceedings/Zhang801.pdf http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/27771989 |
