Title: | Response of plasma metabolites and hormones to nutrition in Merino sheep differing in estimated breeding value for wool growth | Contributor(s): | Li, Lily (author); Oddy, Hutton (author); Nolan, John Vivian (author) | Publication Date: | 2007 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/4205 | Abstract: | Previous studies have elucidated the association between various physiological or genetic markers and wool or body traits (Williams, 1987; Purvis and Franklin, 2005). Identification of gene markers for important traits is the most accurate method of predicting wool or body traits, but gene markers are not yet available or cost effective. Some physiological markers that are related to improved fleece productivity may be used for early identification of genetic merit for fleece production. However; such assays should be cheap, rapid and highly repeatable between differences in nutritional status. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | RAAN 2007: Recent Advances in Animal Nutrition in Australia, Armidale, Australia, 9th - 11th July, 2007 | Source of Publication: | Recent Advances in Animal Nutrition in Australia, v.16, p. 261-261 | Publisher: | University of New England | Place of Publication: | Armidale, Australia | ISSN: | 0819-4823 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 070204 Animal Nutrition | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 830311 Sheep - Wool | HERDC Category Description: | E3 Extract of Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/28256307?selectedversion=NBD44497120 |
