Title: | Quicksmart: Improving literacy for students with learning difficulties | Contributor(s): | Graham, Lorraine (author); Bellert, Anne Maree (author); Thomas, Jennifer (author) | Publication Date: | 2005 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/4166 | Abstract: | Students with learning difficulties generally exhibit consistent weaknesses in basic literacy skills that are challenging to address within the context of the regular classroom. This paper outlines an innovative theory-based research initiative, QuickSmart, which incorporates the Computer-Assisted Assessment System (CAAS), and is focused on improving fluency and comprehension for students with learning difficulties. QuickSmart is designed specifically to meet the needs of middle school students with learning difficulties, that is, students whose poor facility with texts may prevent them from accessing the curriculum and meaningfully participating in many learning experiences. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | Multiliteracies and English Teaching K-12 in the Age of Information and Communication Technologies 2004, Armidale, Australia, 24th - 27th November, 2004 | Source of Publication: | Multiliteracies and English Teaching K-12 in the Age of Information and Communication Technologies 2004, p. 1-13 | Publisher: | University of New England | Place of Publication: | Armidale, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130312 Special Education and Disability | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 930103 Learner Development | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | E1 Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/26536363?selectedversion=NBD42103321 |
