Title: Multimodal Semiotic Analyses and Education
Contributor(s): Unsworth, Len  (author)
Publication Date: 2008

Abstract: This chapter contextualizes and outlines the work presented in the subsequent chapters dealing with new developments in multimodal semiotics related to educational contexts. Key to this contextualization is an understanding of the derivation of this work from within the tradition of systemic functional linguistics towards the development of an expanded, socially responsible multimodal social-semiotic theory significantly influencing and influenced by fundamental issues in language, literacy and multimodal communication in education (Christie and Unsworth, 2005).
