Abstract:

The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is a landlocked nation in South Asia, located between China and India. It is recovering from two recent major crises: a decade-long armed conflict that ended in 2006, in addition to the devastating 2015 earthquake. The conflict claimed the lives of over 13,000 people and approximately 200,000 were internally displaced. The Third Industrial Revolution was about the rapid uptake of information and communication technologies (ICT) with the increasing convergence of communication and energy based on the use of ICT and the networking of computers to expand human activities from offline to online. Interviews were conducted between March 2018 and April 2019. Each interviewee was provided with a research information sheet and signed a consent form to indicate they understood the research process. The main purpose of the interviews was to gather the perspectives of diverse stakeholders about national preparedness for the unfolding 4 Industrial Revolution in Nepal.
