Abstract:

This opening chapter presents the aims of, and questions driving, the edited collection Speculative Biography: Experiments, Opportunities and Provocations. In addition to defining the term speculative biography, the chapter outlines the rationale for the three sections of the book, 'Experiments', 'Opportunities' and 'Provocations', before identifying the connections and correlations between the variously focused but intrinsically connected studies which comprise them. We conclude by suggesting different ways of reading, and appreciating, the book's contents and key contributions.
