Title: | The effects of sex and feeding regime on carcase traits in Australian pigs | Contributor(s): | McSweeny, J M (author); Hermesch, S (author) ; Smith, P R (author); Luxford, B G (author); Graser, H-U (author) | Publication Date: | 1999 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/31443 | Abstract: | Identification of factors that effect the level of production is useful for management, and it is an essential part of genetic evaluation. Previous experiments have identified a significant effect of feeding regime (a controllable aspect of management) on carcase traits and lean meat growth (Cameron et al., 1999). In this study it was possible to include the sex of the animal in the analysis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effecf of sex on carcase traits and the interaction between sex and feeding regime (S x F), using data from a commercial herd. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | APSA 1999: 7th Biennial Conference of the Australasian Pig Science Association, Adelaide, Australia, 28th November - 1st December, 1999 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the 7th Biennial Conference of the Australasian Pig Science Association, p. 118-118 | Publisher: | Australasian Pig Science Association Inc | Place of Publication: | Werribee, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 070201 Animal Breeding | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 830308 Pigs | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | E3 Extract of Scholarly Conference Publication | Series Name: | Manipulating Pig Production | Series Number : | 7 |
