Abstract: Increased consumption of free-range chicken meat appears to be partially driven by consumer belief that access to an outdoor range positively affects chicken welfare. However, little is known about whether accessing an outdoor range affects the welfare of broiler chickens. Therefore this project aimed to identify relationships between individual commercial free-range broiler chicken ranging behaviour and indicators of welfare, with a focus on health.
