Abstract: The nature of the relationship between increasing inclusion rate of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) waste (CW) in diets of fattening cattle, and causes of reduced animal performance at high inclusion rates were evaluated. Previous research by this group (unpublished) has found lower than expected performance at high levels of CW inclusion. It was therefore hypothesised that CW has a dose-response effect on cattle performance, and that a quadratic relationship could be established between CW inclusion and liveweight gain and/or feed intake.
