Abstract: The special issue is a solicited and refereed collection of papers that appear in a single volume, or issue of a journal. Some journals have special issues that are proposed and developed by the editorin- chief, or are organised through bringing in guest editors to lead the topic and request papers. In 2016 two special issues are proposed for The Arts in Psychotherapy. The first of these will honour the work of Professor Emeritus Colwyn Trevarthen. His contribution to theory and knowledge of arts processes and the need for the arts in human lives has extended and developed the scope of arts therapy practices worldwide. Professor Mercedes Pavlicevic and I will work on this together.
