Abstract: In 1936 J. R. B. Stewart (1913-62) spent a year travelling in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish portion of which was mostly in Mysia near Bandirma and Balikesir. His notebook includes several pages of detailed notes on fabrics of pots from Kusura, as well as references to drawings he made and photos he took. He also recorded an occasional inscription which he came across in situ in that region. Four are epitahs (1-4). A further text (5) is a dedication relating to the Imperial cult. Two of these (4, 5), at least, have been published subsequently; the others (1-3) should probably be regarded as now lost, and so are presented here, apparently for the first time.
