The purpose of this study was to understand students' experiences of participating into the emergency room (ER) and intensive care unit (ICU) School-to-Work program. Qualitative research approach was used and the data, 21 students' narratives, assignment and reflecting record of this program were collected. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Three themes and 10 subthemes were founded, There are (1) The shock experience in the clinical, (2) A learning process of listening, observing and doing, and (3) Growing up from the experiences of frustration and success. Basically, students' experiences are positive. In this program, the development of their professional knowledge and their understanding regarding what does is like to work in the ER or ICU provide they with a chance to aware of their knowledge and ability may be insufficient. It also helps them to think and assure to be an ER or ICU nurse in the future. |
