Abstract: The Australian Natural Disaster Resilience Index will assess and report the resilience of Australian communities to natural hazards. Assessment of disaster resilience is based on eight themes that encapsulate the influences on disaster resilience. The index results for the eight themes are presented here. Further work will compute coping and adaptive capacity indexes, and an overall index of disaster resilience.
