dc.description.abstractAs a result of the 1981 Education Act, the education of many children with special educational needs is taking place in the normal comprehensive school rather than in a special school. This paper reports a study of two secondary schools which use different organisational methods, namely withdrawing children into a special unit within the school and the special needs support staff helping the children in the normal classrooms.en
