Abstract: Post-conflict economic recovery is a pre-condition as well as a determinant of building and sustaining peacebuilding that follows peace deals aimed at ending an armed conflict. However, in the immediate aftermath of a protracted armed conflict, the nexus between post-conflict economic recovery and peace suffers from at least three critical problems. Firstly, in post-conflict juncture which is often characterised by political instability and lack of rule of law and insecurity, the priority for economic recovery is often hijacked by the contentious agendas of transitional politics (Wennmann, 2009) as well as stabilisation of security.
