Title: | Theory of Domain Wall Nucleation in a Two Section Magnetic Wire | Contributor(s): | Loxley, Peter (author) ; Stamps, R L (author) | Publication Date: | 2001 | DOI: | 10.1109/20.951065 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/21197 | Abstract: | The energy barrier for thermally driven magnetization reversal in a two section nanowire was calculated, based on a mechanism for domain wall nucleation at the interface between sections. The wire was assumed to be cylindrical, uniform in diameter, and consisting of two different types of ferromagnetic material. It was found that the wall either overcomes the barrier and continues through the wire or falls back to its equilibrium position centered in the local minimum. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 37(4), p. 2098-2100 | Publisher: | Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) | Place of Publication: | United States of America | ISSN: | 1941-0069 0018-9464 |
