English Abstract: This article examines a series of the school autonomy reform policies put in place in ACT Australia from mid 1970s to the present, especially all the major implementation measures and their outcomes taking place under the leadership of Principal Dr Phil Beecher in Canberra High School from 2008 onwards. Analysis is made with the focus on the efficacy of these policies and implementation measures. By comparing with Chinese school autonomy reforms, this article has also identified some positive Australian school autonomy practices in Canberra High School that can shed light on Chinese school reforms.
