Title: Punishment and the courts in rural communities
Contributor(s): Hogg, Russell George  (author)

Abstract: This chapter is concerned with the role of the courts and the administration of punishment in Australian rural communities. Its primary focus is New South Wales. As with the issues examined in other chapters in this collection it is necessary to ask why the administration of punishment should be in any way different in rural communities. What, if anything, is it about the rural context that shapes the administration of justice (and crime) in distinctive ways?
