Title: | Breast Mass in a Rubens Painting | Contributor(s): | Lazzeri, Davide (author); Lippi, Donatella (author); Castello, Manuel (author); Weisz, George M (author) | Publication Date: | 2016 | Open Access: | Yes | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/19275 | Open Access Link: | http://www.rmmj.org.il/userimages/536/1/PublishFiles/561Article.pdf | Abstract: | Deformity of the breast and axilla observed in famous paintings is a fascinating field for the medico-artists. The attempt of a retrospective diagnosis of breast tumors is highly challenging. This paper deals with a Rubens painting portraying the heroine Judith with a visible but previously unreported left breast mass. Though speculative, the present medico-artistic diagnosis is of a tumor likely to be of benign nature. It is of interest that the present case is the sixth breast disease discovered in Rubens's works. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal, 7(2), p. 1-4 | Publisher: | Rambam Health Care Campus | Place of Publication: | Israel | ISSN: | 2076-9172 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 210307 European History (excl.
