Abstract: This article draws attention to some perspective that must be considered in future research in biogeography and ecology. Both disciplines are closely connected: biogeography, the study of biodiversity and its patterns in space and time, depends on ecology, the study of interactions between organisms and their environment, for elucidating reasons for the patterns.
