Title: | Comment: An Aboriginal perspective on 'Closing the Gap' from the rural front line | Contributor(s): | Wilson, Rhonda L (author) | Publication Date: | 2016 | Open Access: | Yes | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/18949 | Open Access Link: | http://www.rrh.org.au/articles/subviewnew.asp?ArticleID=3693 | Abstract: | A recent rural community gathering, designed to bring together rural Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members and leaders, was held and provided an important forum for Aboriginal people to share perspectives about Australia's aspirations to 'Close the Gap' between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The aim of this report is to disseminate the sentiment that percolated in the presentations and discussion arising from the gathering. This report demonstrates how rural Close the Gap champions can influence the uptake of healthy choices in their communities, at the front line of change. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | Rural and Remote Health, v.16, p. 1-3 | Publisher: | Australian Rural Health Education Network | Place of Publication: | Australia | ISSN: | 1445-6354 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 111701 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health | Fields of Research (FoR) 2020: | 450401 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and disability | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 920301 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health - Determinants of Health | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2020: | 210301 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander determinants of health | HERDC Category Description: | C4 Letter of Note |
