Title: | The estimation and utilisation of variation in fibre diameter profile characteristics between sheep | Contributor(s): | Brown, Daniel (author); Cook, Brad (supervisor); Purvis, Ian (supervisor) | Conferred Date: | 2001 | Copyright Date: | 2000 | Open Access: | Yes | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/17770 | Abstract: | Fibre diameter profiles (FDPs) describe the fibre diameter responses of individual sheep to the environmental conditions that they experience throughout the wool growth period. The characteristics of this response pattern vary between sheep and are correlated with staple strength. The unifying hypothesis that differences between sheep in responsiveness of fibre diameter throughout the year may be able to be utilised to improve wool staple strength was accepted. | Publication Type: | Thesis Doctoral | Rights Statement: | Copyright 2000 - Daniel John Brown | HERDC Category Description: | T2 Thesis - Doctorate by Research | Publisher/associated links: | http://sheepjournal.net/index.php/WTSB/article/view/1477 http://sheepjournal.net/index.php/WTSB/article/view/1744 http://sheepjournal.net/index.php/WTSB/article/view/1485 http://agbu.une.edu.au/publications/gxe_armwa.pdf |
