Abstract: This report provides deeper insights into the development and implementation of monitoring and quality assurance practices in Australia. The National Quality Framework was recently implemented in Australia and like Germany, Australia is a federation of states and territories and therefore there is familiarity with the challenges of shared responsibility in an ECEC system. The report provides contextual information on the Australian ECEC system and explains the different steps involved in designing the quality practices. It reflects on initial experiences related to the implementation of the National Quality Framework, and considers strengths, possible weaknesses and challenges encountered in the process of implementation.
