Title: | Encouraging Students' Involvement in Technology-Supported Mathematics Lesson Sequences | Contributor(s): | Prodromou, Theodosia (author) ; Lavicza, Zsolt (author); Koren, Balazs (author) | Publication Date: | 2015 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/17603 | Abstract: | This article aims to report on a pilot study with experienced Hungarian teachers who introduced mathematical concepts through a sequence of lessons utilising a pedagogical framework (Lavicza et al., 2009a; 2009b) for general technology integration. In this paper our aim was to focus on the students' experience of the shift in the classroom dynamic and examine how students felt about the teacher demonstrations and about the student-led activities. Results of this study suggested that students were generally enthusiastic about the use of technology in the classroom, but beyond classroom demonstrations they prefer hands-on activities and opportunities to discuss learning with their peers. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | CERME 9: 9th Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education, Prague, Czech Republic, 4th - 8th February, 2015 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the the Ninth Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education: Thematic Working Group Papers (TWP16), p. 1-10 | Publisher: | European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (ERME) | Place of Publication: | Prague, Czech Republic | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130208 Mathematics and Numeracy Curriculum and Pedagogy 130212 Science, Technology and Engineering Curriculum and Pedagogy 130306 Educational Technology and Computing |
