Abstract |
The aim of this study is to determine the level of, and the factors that influence, the job satisfaction of Saudi nurses working in Ministry of Health (MOH) hospitals that operate under the Hospital Operating Program (HOP). This research will inform policy and practice for the recruitment and retention of Saudi nurses, as well as contribute to enhanced levels of culturally appropriate patient care. There is a shortage of qualified Saudi nurses and job satisfaction is likely to affect this situation. By assessing the degree of job satisfaction among Saudi staff nurses in MOH hospitals and identifying contributing factors, this study will identify how job satisfaction influences nursing recruitment and retention in these hospitals. This research is important because most of the Saudi community prefers to receive care from Saudi nurses, but most of the nurses in Saudi Arabia are non-Saudi.
