|Title:||Price transmission and relationships between agri-food value chains in Australia and Colombia||Contributor(s):||Morales, L Emilio (author) ; Hoang, Nam (author) ; Griffith, Garry (author) ; Salomon, Selecao (author)||Publication Date:||2014||Handle Link:||https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/15927||Abstract:||Sharp fluctuations in agricultural prices have raised questions about asymmetry in vertical price transmissions in agri-food value chains. Farmer and export prices of banana, beef cattle and sugar cane for Australia and Colombia for the period from 1970 to 2010 were analysed, with results indicating cointegration between farmer and export prices in both countries, with the exception of sugar cane in Colombia. Asymmetric error correction models for each value chain identified vertical price transmission, relationships between farmer prices of related value chains in both countries and asymmetries in price transmission, where positive price shocks are more quickly transmitted to farmers.||Publication Type:||Conference Publication||Conference Name:||AARES 2014: 58th Annual Conference of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society, Port Macquarie, Australia, 4th - 7th February, 2014||Conference Details:||AARES 2014: 58th Annual Conference of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society, Port Macquarie, Australia, 4th - 7th February, 2014||Source of Publication:||Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society 58th Annual Conference Handbook, p. 58-58||Publisher:||AARES: Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society||Place of Publication:||Australia||Field of Research (FOR):||140201 Agricultural Economics||Socio-Economic Outcome Codes:||910211 Supply and Demand||HERDC Category Description:||E3 Extract of Scholarly Conference Publication||Other Links:||http://www.aares.org.au/aares/documents/2014AC/Handbook.pdf||Statistics to Oct 2018:||Visitors: 292
