This book reviews research and practice in Business English in China and beyond in the last fifty years. It identities a number of approaches to Business English and proposes a discourse approach, which focuses on the use of English in business settings, and illustrates a set of business genres. The book synthesises the tradition of English for specific purposes and the discourse approach in providing a working definition of Business English. Implications of this new understanding for Business English education are discussed
