Abstract: This volume represents the proceedings of the conference entitled "Death, Burial and the Transition to the Afterlife in Arabia and Adjacent Regions" that was held at the British Museum from November 27th to 29th, 2008. The conference was organised by the editor on behalf of the Society for Arabian Studies as one of its series of biennial conferences which had previously focused on the Red Sea region.
