The yellow-lipped sea krait ('Laticauda colubrina') is widely distributed across Eastern Indian and Western Pacific Oceans. This article presents an observation of an individual 'L. colubrina' West of Alofi, in the French territory of Wallis and Futuna Islands. To date, 'L. colubrina' was unknown from this archipelago. This observational record could significantly increase the known distribution of the yellow-lipped sea krait. However, the observation of a single individual cannot confirm the presence of a viable population of this species at Wallis and Futuna. Therefore, other observations are required to confirm the presence of a reproductive population of 'L. colubrina' in Wallis and Futuna. |
