Title: | Researching the language links between school and work | Contributor(s): | de Silva Joyce, H (author); Feez, Susan (author) | Publication Date: | 2008 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/1390 | Abstract: | This article summarises the significant findings from the Disadvantaged Schools Program 'Write it Right' Literacy in Industry Project undertaken in the 1990s. The 'Write it Right' research was undertaken at the same time as research into the language of the key learning areas of English, Science, History, Geography and Visual Arts. An important aspect of the research was the consideration of how the language knowledge that students acquire in the key learning areas relates to the language demands of the industry sectors investigated in the project: manufacturing, the media and administration. | Publication Type: | Journal Article | Source of Publication: | Prospect, 23(2), p. 23-46 | Publisher: | National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research | Place of Publication: | Australia | ISSN: | 0814-7094 | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 200303 English as a Second Language | Peer Reviewed: | Yes | HERDC Category Description: | C1 Refereed Article in a Scholarly Journal | Publisher/associated links: | http://www.ameprc.mq.edu.au/docs/prospect_journal/volume_23_no_2/Researching.pdf |
