For the past four years there has been resident in Armidale Robert C. Herbert one of the playwrights of the new wave, whom it is right to associate with Alexander Buzo, John Romeril and David Williamson. Unfortunately for the public he has not as yet caught the attention of the media, despite the fact that his dialogue play, 'An Isolated Case of Heterochromia' came second to 'King O'Malley' in the 1970 Captain Cook Bicentenary Drama Contest. His text had to wait until late 1972 for commercial presentation, when it was said to be a worthy climax to the Sydney New Theatre's 40th anniversary year.en
