Title: | My Dog Jack | Contributor(s): | Pigram, John (author) | Publication Date: | 2009 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/11501 | Abstract: | 'My Dog Jack' is a story about a dog whose job it is to round up the sheep on a farm in Outback Australia, and is based on the experiences of the author growing up on a family farm in the countryside. Australia is a big country and has many millions of sheep on large properties scattered across the grasslands of the interior. Sheep dogs are necessary to help manage the sheep because of the great distances and large areas involved and the dogs are also useful with other jobs around the farm such as helping to control rabbits. Sometimes accidents can happen and attending to injured animals is a real problem in remote areas away from towns and cities. This story tells of what happened when Jack was badly hurt chasing rabbits and of how he was given urgent and special treatment on the farm to make him well and strong again. | Publication Type: | Book | Publisher: | Trafford Publishing | Place of Publication: | Victoria, Canada | ISBN: | 9781426920387 1426920385 |
