dc.description.abstract | The papers which make up this course are meant to cover both the cultural heritage and the texture of life in contemporary Norway. While excessive emphasis may Seem to have been placed on mediaeval culture, it was that period which made Norway an international state and, despite long periods of political subordination, it has not really departed from its former glories. By its difficulties, its Vikings and its early colonial policies, it can be said to have been an important period in the culture of the early Germanic peoples. Norway today is exciting geographically, stimulating as a social cauldron and active in its interest in the past through its museums, its folk art and its cultural policies. | en |
