Abstract
Data Caveats: • Common problems obtaining coherent data for across the entire Asia Pacific region. • Not all national statistical collections are yet complete, though major improvements in recent years. Also, interpretation can be difficult, and must be done with some caution, because of different national data collection methods. • Sufficient data to develop some discernible patterns and trends in key areas with policy relevance. • The vast extremes in the region make comparisons difficult and this can be partly overcome by aggregating data into High, Medium and Lower Income Economic (HIE, MIE and LIE) groups, in line with World Bank classifications.
