Title: | Potting plant-foods with children... planting, picking and picto-reciping | Contributor(s): | McCrea, Nadine Louise (author) | Publication Date: | 2008 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/10960 | Abstract: | Following on from our edible patchwork of paradigms and passions plus some big ideas, we will actively workshop practicalities of edible gardening to preparing and partaking within children's services. Within our calm, caring, respectful framework, we will do hands-on considerations and brainstorming beginning with selecting and collecting plant foods - garden production - to food harvesting. And, we will use picto-recipes to create plant food tastes. The Ps within the 'My handi-gardening' image will be explored in detail. We will formulate and share foodcycle-planning ideas and ideals across a place-and-time continuum of planting, picking and preparing with picto-recipes. Plant planning ideas emerge from children's everyday lives, but we educators also contribute. Finally, the serious message for today is about... respect for our food and the sources and origins of our daily foods. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | Children IN Nature - From the ground up, Penrith, Australia, 8th November, 2008 | Source of Publication: | Presented at Children IN Nature - From the ground up | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 130102 Early Childhood Education (excl Maori) | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 939999 Education and Training not elsewhere classified | HERDC Category Description: | E2 Non-Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication |
