Abstract: Quality teacher education is a complex and situated suite of professional practices. As teaching practice is developed and produced and embedded in the interplay between individuals and the sociopolitical cultures, this entry emphasizes the role of teacher educators in enhancing the quality of education. It begins by outlining and then challenging a transactional approach to quality assurance where teacher educators are quality assured through an emphasis on preservice teacher outcomes. It then details quality practices associated with collaborative inquiry. An alternative approach to quality assurance through developing inquiry-oriented standards in that foster collaborative peer inquiry is then outlined as a means to assure rich reflective professional practice in ITE institutions.</description>

Abstract: Over the last decade, we have seen an emerging corpus of literature on student voice at classroom, school, university, and system level that draw from poststructural theories. More than just a capacity of students to talk about schooling practices as informants, student voice involves student participation and agency in regard to both pedagogical decision-making and school governance. It is produced through relations of power within the particular situated contexts of schools. Student voice work has been used in teacher education as a tool to gauge efficiencies (schooling improvement) and address power asymmetries (student participation and activism) (Mayes et al. 2017). It is appropriate to question the motivation for and justification of participatory voice projects as a part of schooling reform. To what degree do students exercise agency and influence matters that affect their own lives and the well-being of others?</description>

Abstract: Photographic and optical enhancement of physical evidence is an important criminalistics function. It provides nondestructive methods of improving the visualization of evidence to allow further forensic examination. The key concepts and techniques involving optical, photographic, and digital imaging techniques are examined in this section. Critical foundation aspects found in quality forensic photography such as maintaining the dimensional integrity of evidence and the representation of scale are described to ensure forensic photography principles. Attributes required for optical enhancement including the relationship between the spectral distribution of the light source, the spectral properties of the specimen, and spectral sensitivity of the recording media are unpacked and provide a theoretical basis. Optic enhancement techniques such as absorption, reflection, transmission, and photoluminescence modes are discussed with samples illustrating those optical effects. Digital imaging enhancement techniques to increase the contrast and the modification of color using Adobe Photoshop™ are explained.
