Abstract |
Reviewing recent advances in Australian graphic novels, Bernard Caleo (2014: 16) could hardly contain his excitement at the appearance of two breakthrough publications: Pat Grant's 'Blue' (2012) and Joshua Santospirito's 'The Long Weekend in Alice Springs' (2013). Both books were hailed as key means by which comics could "break out of the hermetic worlds" they inhabit, and "find new readers... for whom comics might be a medium that they have not read since childhood, if at all."
