Abstract
Australia is a very large country far away from the rest of the world. And while Australia may have had its fair share of well-known geneticists, what happens on the ground is what really matters. The breeding programmes in sheep and cattle are remarkably successful, even though breeding decisions are made by many independently operating individuals.
