This dataset contains one of the eleven oral history interviews that comprise AEMMOHP, Australia’s Early Music Movement Oral History Project. The interview collection, featuring prominent musicians and musicologists, explores Australian music history in the second half of the twentieth century when early European music revivalism was a vibrant component of Australian cultural life in academic and broader public cultural spheres.
The interview herein features Dr Julja Szuster and was recorded on 10th December 2024. Dr Szuster’s early music research path in the 1970s brought her into regular contact with Gordon Athol Anderson, Australia’s leading medieval musicologist of the time, and her recollections capture his character, methodological approach, and influence, as well as details of early music performance, the creation of international networks in the field, and her own pursuit of a career in music and education in South Australia.
The enclosed files are: audio file (.m4a), interview transcript (.pdf), respondent consent form (.pdf), and the clean copy transcript style sheet (.pdf).
